The most important thing is . . .

“A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It’s jolted by every pebble on the road.”

- Henry Ward Beecher
I got involved in a discussion with friends the other day about life rules.  Now I know most of you have them, even if you don’t recognize them for what they are; the rules you’ve developed in life which keep you sane and on task.  These are the rules that keep you looking “normal” to the rest of the world.

I’m going to share mine with you, in hopes that you’ll want to share yours.

  1. Treat people the way you want to be treated, regardless of how they treat you.
  2. Be kind to others first, in hopes they will return the kindness when you need it most.
  3. Have your brain edit the shi word before it leaves your lips.
  4. Always remember, Life is Not Fair.
  5. Try not to lose your sense of humor.

Think of them as guidelines rather than rules.  They just might help you in a pinch.

There are so many things that will help you over life’s little humps and bumps in the road.  It’s important to remember that life, like success, is a journey, not a destination.

When you get right down to it, I have a mantra I repeat each and every day.  “You cannot change anyone or anything around you, only yourself.”  Good to remember.  But my personal favorite is #5.

I don’t rejoice in material things, only in my ability to hang on to my sense of humor, even when it takes both hands.

So, tell me, what are your life rules?
