It’s been hell.
I’m not sure what I was thinking when I thought to write a novella this month. Oh, high hopes and gobs of insanity had lots to do with the process.
The story is good and I’m having fun “thinking” of ways to take the story. Darling Valentine, aka, Val, is a lot more complicated than I first imagined. She’s motherless and has had to take on the role for her younger sister. Thank goodness, Joshua is staying to my original plan with his brooding tortured soul. But that’s about it. Thinking. No, major writing for me this week.
The problem? The problem is my children. This week I shall dub thee, “How can we mess with Mom’s writing schedule.” I love my kids. They’re my world, but writing in the summer can be very tricky. There are the friends over at all times, and then the extra light so everyone wants to stay up late. My prime time for writing is from 8pm-eleven. We play hard all day and by the time I get them to bed-I’m beat and quickly follow suit.
I’m frustrated that I let a week go by with no real dedication to this new novella. I forgive myself and will look on this next week with more gratitude.
